"So comforting and calming"
Inspiration from a Testimony meeting
I am extremely grateful for the Wednesday Testimony meeting I attended mid-week of the rioting and looting in South Africa. The readings from The Bible and the Christian Science textbook were so comforting and calming. The opening hymn immediately allayed my own fears and doubts. It reads:
Hymn 115 :
We would trust in Thy protecting, Wholly rest upon Thine arm,
Follow wholly Thy directing, Thou our only guard from harm.
Keep us from our own undoing, Help us turn to Thee when tried,
Still our strength in Thee renewing, Keep us ever at Thy side.
I then felt such joy as testifiers gave their gratitude for protection and instances of how their prayers had been answered. One speaker went on to explain more about the present relevance of Holy Bible stories which are so helpful: Daniel in the Lions Den, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who were thrown into a fierce fire and the crucifixion of Christ Jesus. In each instance God lifted his faithful out of danger. I found this enormously helpful. I am so grateful to be able to attend these weekly meetings.
